{Healthy Recipes Simpledaisy Style & Crafting}

Well Hello & super Happy Friday to you:)

I really want you to know just how much I read and appreciate each and everyone of your comments!! Sometimes I can't wait to wake up in the morning to see what new things there are for me to read! They always keep me motivated and inspired to keep following my dreams!

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to leave your comment!
I really do try my hardest to stop in to all of your blogs.....
I love to read them!! They inspire me just as I hope I inspire you!

Guess what.....

I have been crafting away as usual....
nothing too challenging just painting pots:)
Over the years I have learned that when I paint pots with a couple of coats of paints it chips off and in NOT a pretty way.
Sooooo......
I have been white washing {is that what you call it} my pots.
Simple and oh so cute:)

Get some terra cotta pots...
mix water and the paint color of your choice {I don't use exact measurements...can you believe it:)} just mix it until it's super watery...
Paint it on...
sand it with sand paper when it dries....
repeat 1, 2 or 3 more times....depending on how you want them to look!

Here is the finished product...

vintagey and aqua blue! PERFECT:)

I also did some little ones for my outdoor table....
I put super cute geraniums in them and added tiny shells. They just make me so darn happy!
Who knew $.50 pots and some paint could make a girl smile!!!
I also added some tiny shells to my votive candle holder! I just love summer:)
I wish winter never had to happen because I am just so happy being able to enjoy my meals outside surrounded by pretty little flowers:) Thank you SUMMER for being you!!

Just for good measure....
here are the girls.....in black & white!
You know I am not the world's biggest fan of black & white photography....but I think their really captures their personalities.....especially when they are begging for a little morsel of the food I am cooking for my Fresh Friday post:)

Ruby.......
such a cute face! You wouldn't even know she could chew an entire pillow and comforter in probably under 5 minutes!! Do they have a medal for that?!!? :) :)

and L.C.

Such a pretty, pretty girl!! Champion beggar for sure!!
I love dogs....even though they "might" chew all of your sandals or constantly beg for food....maybe even sneak your entire dinner off the counter when you're not looking.....they make me really happy and always {oh, OK....almost always} bring a big smile to my face!

Now for Fresh Friday:)
I have been more than a little down on myself for gaining 10lbs this winter....have I mentioned that winter and myself just don't get along....we try and try...but we just can't be friends:)
I think I just eat my way through winter!

Well...anywho....
I got sooooo close to my goal weight/size {whatever you want to call it} last summer and then winter hit and I just got really involved in my wine and pizza....darn:(

I know most of us have a few or a tiny bit more than a few lbs. we'd like to say good bye to.
Here's how I do it or plan to do it:) .....
now mind you I never did reach my goal weight last summer {darn wine...gets me every time} and am starting from scratch this summer....So I am by no means an expert!

First, I always increase my exercise and no.....not just the running/cycling/p90x.
I mean simply move MORE. {summer makes that easy}...
Yep....I push mow the yard! Most wives probably save that for their significant other to do....not me....Burns an extra 200 and some calories! Plus I ran before that...not far but just a little run!!!

I also start cutting back a little bit on what I eat....I am NOT perfect but one day I realized I ate over 400 calories in stinkin' goldfish crackers....
don't get me wrong I love those darn things...but really 400 calories worth.....so I switched to apple cinnamon rice cakes at 100 calories.....
still get my crunchy snack but saved calories:) {Thanks for the tip Jamie}

For me....I know it's senseless to say I am not going to snack or have my wine.....so I just start figuring out how to snack for less calories and do a little more exercise so that I can lose my winter induced fat layer:) :)

I wonder if I lived in Florida or California or Louisiana what my excuse would be for my winter weight gains!!!!
haha:)

Alright now on to the super healthy food:)
Fish Tacos with Grilled Peach Salsa

This meal was sooooo darn good it should have been illegal:)

for the tacos.....
mahi spiced with lime, chili powder & cumin
grill it and chop it up when it's done

for the grilled peach salsa.....
chop
peaches
tomato
jalapeno
cilantro
red onion
add......lime juice...frozen corn...chili powder and grill.
When it's all finished make happy little tacos with corn tortillas {oh don't forget to grill those too} and add a little Mexican Cheese....
YUM-O!!!!

Edamame Corn Peach Salad

chop...
tomato
red onion
cilantro
tomatoes
avocado
add in
thawed frozen corn and edamame
mix in lime juice, chili powder and cumin
This really rocked my face off...........
So fresh and So Healthy:)

You know me well enough by now to know......I don't have any fabulous meal without a little vino!!
Since it was FINALLY warm and sunny here in midwestern paradise...white it was:)
Great wine!!! Plus look how cute is the bottle.....
this meal and the sunshine made me kind of feel {for a moment} that I was in Santa Barbara!!
Cheers...............
And have yourself a super fabulous weekend..............

{seaglass wreath}

Well hello and how are you this fine Sunday!?!?
I just walked in from a 7 miles run!!! Yippee...I was pretty glad I did it without dieing:) Should've had the hubby take a photo...owell:)

Yesterday I went and got beautified with a cut and a highlight!

She put bangs in and really blonded it up!! Don't you just love it when the stars align and your hair actually turns out the way you picture it in your mind!!
I like mine slightly messy and short! I think it says i'm fun and don't take life too seriously!!

What do you think about the bangs??? Oh and don't look too closely at my wrinkles.
Geesh where did those come from!?!?

and the back!

I love...love..love a fresh hair cut and highlight!! I just wish it were free:)

I also spent the weekend tinkering with simpledaisy and taking photos of the new jewelry i've been making!!!
Do you like?!?!? Yea or Nea?!?!?

I just need a little more time to get it on to my etsy shop!!
but my friend is having a simpledaisy trunk show coming up...so even if I don't get it all on-line I will still be able to sell it there:)

I love making jewelry and I love styling it for photographs...so fun:)

I also made a new happy little wreath for my laundry room {which is ALMOST finished}
So simple.....

Get some seaglass and a wreath form...

pour a glass of vino and grab some chips....

and hot glue away.....

Oh I was at my friend's house and funny thing is....
her dogs like to help too:)

But I love dogs {you know that} so I didn't mind the extra help.
anywho....
here is the finished product!!

can't wait to finish the laundry room so I can hang in there and show you!!
Oh I should say....it is HEAVY so be careful when you hang it!!!!

I love it....I think it's super beachy and the colors are just perfect!

As always....let me know if you decide to give it whirl!!!

Alright, back to reality...I am off to mow the lawn then to pour a nice big glass of vino to enjoy the rest of my Sunday!!!!
Take care~

{wreaths: simpledaisy style}

Hello.... hope you had a fabulous weekend:)
You know I am truly going crazy with this weather!! This is the time of the year when I start to get obsessed with the 16 day forcast, just hoping to see a 50 degree day. I haven't seen it on there yet....but I have my fingers crossed.
I took a walk around the house today....and look at what is poking their sleepy little heads out of the ground:)
At least the daffodils know that spring is right around the corner:)

Today I spent the day crafting! You know I love that..
Let's see what I made.
But first...the thing about crafting and being creative is to just keep it simple! Don't try and make things too complicated.
Sometimes you can even re-work something you already have.
That's just what I did with this
wreath. Remember it from this autumn! I love to make winecork wreaths. Simple and cute:) I just changed out the yellow daisies for white ones. walllaaa it's a new wreath:) Don't try and reinvent the wheel, right?!?!?
Don't you just love the blue door?!?? I do...it makes me so happy:)I forgot to show you what I added to my front door after seeing someting similar on Lime in the Coconut. {the hello} You have to give credit where credit is due...right?!?!?

I think it looks charming...

Now I just can't wait until I can put some happy little flowers in those pots. Here's how it looks in the summer:)
You know my love affair with daises and so couldn't resist making a really simple wreath.Get yourself a good hot glue gun, one of those floral wreath forms and lots of daisy bunches. I just pop the tops off and hot glue them to the wreath.I love it...turned out so adorable! At least I think so:)
I ended up hanging it in our bedroom!Next I made another wreath....in my favorite color..TURQUOISE!
It turned out fabulous.Get a wreath form & spray paint it aqua blue. After it dries...glue on those glass things that people put in vases with flowers!
Oh my gosh...it turned out better than expected! I love it.
Now I just need to find the perfect spot for it!!It's so great to be crafty!
What crafts do like to do!?!?! Oh and let me know if you give these little crafts a whirl:)

Hope you have a really wonderful week:)

{crafting: simpledaisy style}

Good Morning!
Do you love to make things?!?!?
I know I do and most days my mind never stops spinning with ideas!
Now here are a couple super easy and slightly beachy crafts to do!

All you need to do both crafts are....
cream/tan colored paint
hot glue gun
terra cotta pot
paper mache letter of your choice
jute rope

First the letter....All you do...is wrap and glue....wrap and glue the jute rope around the letter.
Here's the finished product!simple and cute:)I just love jute! I think it's natural and a little beachy:)Next.... a cute little terra cotta pot.
First paint the outside...Just put a couple coats on. It doesn't have to be perfect!
Then wrap and glue and wrap and glue the jute on.
So cute! I filled the pot with some miniature daffodil bulbs:)Oh and Ruby helping me take my photographs:)Now here is the pot in our home....So happy and cute:)
Oh and did you notice the blue "thing" on the couch???
That would be my husband sitting on the couch in his SNUGGIE:)
He is pretending to be sleeping so that he doesn't have to get involved in my crafting:)
Nice, huh?? :)

The possibilities are endless with the jute rope! You could also make a simple little wreath or wrap frames with it! What are your ideas?!?!?

Hope you enjoyed this simple little craft! and if you happen to do either one....let me know!! I'd love to see how it turned out:)
