Shabby Little Jewelry Holder

Hello and Happy Friday!! WootWoot:)

I have the winner of the Simple Daisy Ring give-away.....
Yeah for her!!! Be sure and stop by her blog.....The Hairy Peach to say congrats:)

I can't wait to see which ring she picks for herself!!!!

I've been really enjoy creating rings and can't wait to tinker on a few ideas i've had swirling around in my head!!
There really isn't enough time in the day to do all of the things I day dream about:)

For awhile i've been wanting to teach myself how to make my own stamps using my drawings....

Because I love to doodle and I thought they might work on my jewelry designs:)

The stamps turned out so cute!!!! I love them! But I think they are a bit too bit for using with the silver and bronze clay.

This is how the clay looks before I fire it in the kiln! I think the owl is just so darn cute but it's pretty large for a pendant. And I LOVE the horse....and planned on writing......fences are made for those who can't fly.....
but I want to perfect the horse just a bit!

It's so fun just tinkering around teaching myself new things!

My studio is quickly becoming overgrown with jewelry!
And well...plants too:)

But it's my happy space! It's usually quite messy with drawings, doodles and quotes laying around everywhere!

I try to organize.....but it never lasts!
See that driftwood jewelry stand.....I made those awhile ago and love them!

But I needed a way to organize my jewelry on the wall....so that it takes up less counter space.

Here's what I came up with just using what I had lying around!

Sorry for the not so great photos....i'm a little under the weather and just wasn't up for taking a million photos to get nice ones:)

Simple & Cute!
Plus....you can use whatever you happen to have on hand to make your own!!!

And the best part....it can hold a ton of jewelry!!
Ok...well...sure hope you have yourself a wonderful and creative weekend!!!!

{yarn wrapped letters}

Hello there:)

How are you on this Sunday afternoon??
Don't you think the weekend went entirely toooooo fast!

I have to tell you that in typical Indiana fashion.....it was rainy and cold all weekend.
Hot one minute....freezing cold the next.
We say in Indiana "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes because it will change." Usually that's true....but this cold rain just won't go away.

Owell....I made the best of it.

I appreciated the beauty of these pretty little dogwood blossoms. They look like little rays on sunshine on a cloudy day:)
I love that little tree in my front yard!!

Besides tinking in my yard between the rain showers I did a happy little craft.
Remember all the jute rope crafts I did awhile back??

Well this is kind of similar.
I just took little paper mache letters and wrapped them with ocean hued yarn:)

I was just walking past the yarn at the craft store and thought these would be cute and simple to do!

But I have to admit....except for the colors of the yarn...they aren't really too summerish:(
Owell...I was cold and the yarn looked cozy!
I love them and think they're so darn cute!!

Even with the crummy weekend weather....I found so many pretty things to be thankful for:)
There are sooooo many flowers blooming right now....I am on sensory overload from all the beauty of the blossoming flowers!

And lilacs....well they are among my favorites! So nostalgic:)

They remind me of simple days gone by.
It makes me so sad to go past fancy new subdivisions....perfect grass and not a flower in sight....just bushes, bushes and more bushes..........I don't even think they plant flowers, flowering trees or flowering bushes.....too messy they probably think.

Me....I say....bring on the mess! Messy flowers everywhere makes everything better:)

and the old fashioned kinds of flowers are my favorites!

How could you not be happy enjoying the beauty of flowers.
And the scent.....pure bliss:)

Sweet little letters that you could put just about anywhere!

Whatever you do in life....keep it simple!!
Don't make things too complicated:)

And when the skies turn grey....just get busy finding the simple beauty in life:)
Makes things and breathe in the beauty of flowers!!

Let's hope the sun shows it's pretty little face this week!!!
If not.....well i'll just have to be determined to keep myself happy and chipper!

I hope you have a really simple and happy week:):)

{mason jar love}

Well Hello!
How are you on this blissful Wednesday!?!?

Yes...you got that right...I said blissful:)

As I type this it's still 82 degrees outside and I am enjoying white wine instead of red! I couldn't be anymore happier if I tried!
I came home from work today and rode a very hot and sweaty 20 miles on my bicycle! But it felt so good to actually break a sweat outside:)

The birds are singing happy song....flowers are blooming....it's been warm and sunny........ life in the Simple Daisy household has been super happy!

You know how i've been sprucing up my deck lately...well I got the hairbrain idea to pot up a few of the English Primroses that grow in my yard.
What better pot to use than a beautiful aqua blue mason jar?!!?

Now you wouldn't be able to leave them like this all season...but they are cute to look at for a little while!

I think they are so happy and cute!
I also just cut branches with the saw and drilled a hole in them to make little hanging tags:)

You could also paint the branches with chalkboard paint but I thought they were cute like this!

Rustic and sweet:)
I think little pansies would be cute in these too! Really....any little potted plant would be cute!

The jars are also cute empty with just the branch tags on them!!
Sorry...I didn't wash them out for their photo op...but they're still cute even with a little dirt on the inside:)

You could use them anywhere!

There you have it! A happy little something to do when you get a little free time and feel inspired:)

Hope you have a wonderful rest of you week!!! I know I am counting down the days until the end of school so I can spend my days living in creative, summertime bliss!!!!

{project mania}

Well good morning my blogging friends!!
Long time no talk:)

I took an unscheduled break! I got involved in way too many projects aound the house...had a few too many large Simple Daisy orders....felt like I needed to really get back to working on my fitness (kind of let things slip over the winter) and alllllllll of that left little time to update you on all my happenings:)

Anywho....I have been sort of thinking too....Sort of re-priortizing my life!

I realized this winter that I really let my fitness slip....I was so busy pumping out large Simple Daisy orders for shops and working full time that I had little time for anything else!

I felt like I was driving myself into the ground! I don't mind being super busy...I am a complete type A ...get it done...kind of person. But I just started to feel like I wasn't spending my time doing the things that I really love!

So...for the time being....no more large Simple Daisy orders to shops. Maybe someday i'll get to be a creative soul full-time and make a living at it! but for today.....i'll just enjoy tinkering and creating part-time:)

Getting so busy with the jewelry also left little time for one of my favorite creative loves.......my blog! It also left little time for me to get creative with my cooking...another major love of mine!

Basically I started to feel like it was consuming my life and that's not how I want to feel! At least not while I am working full time at an already super stressful job:)

I want Simple Daisy to be something I look forward to...something I enjoy!

So here is my priority list in order!
  • Fitness and Health
  • Fun times with my friends
  • Crafting and blogging
  • Jewelry

I feel so much better after taking a mini break to repriortize things! Life is so short and I don't want to waste a day doing things that don't make me happy!

Ok...well work doesn't always make me super happy....but it's a very meaningful job {I am a Special Education Teacher}!!!!! And it keep the lights on in the Simple Daisy studio :):)

Do you find yourself ever needing a minute to reprioritize how you spend your time?!?!!? What makes you the most happy!!!!

OK....wheeewww....glad I got that all out of the way:)
Thanks for listening! Sometimes we all just need someone to talk to, right!!!

Anywho....here's what else i've been up to!
Mind you....it's only a sneak peek....I am not finished yet but just wanted to show you I haven't just been sitting around doing nothing:) heehee!!

Springtime always makes me want to spruce things up a bit!  And so that's exactly what I did in a few of our rooms!

Starting with the bedroom!
The paint color was just starting to drive me crazy! Too drab and too dark!
So yesterday I painted! My poor husband was in for a surprise when he got home from work:)

Just a tiny change can make you so happy!
I wish you could see it in person! The color is just perfect! Kind of like a ....hmmmmm.....how could I describe it...
Sour Cream maybe???
A very light creamy khaki!
L*O*V*E*

I was so excited to wake up this morning to see it in the sunshine! It was dark and gray all day yesterday so I couldn't see the full effect!
But yep....I love it even more in the sunlight!

It doesn't look that different in this side-by-side but trust me...it is:)
And I just changed out a few accessories! I still need to get photos in the frames...and a couple other things! I'll show you more when I get the room totally finished:)

And I want to get something like a trunk or a bench for the end of the bed and i'll put the jute rug back in there!

It's just so cottage fresh now!
So funny how your tastes change as you move through life! That's why I love paint! Just paint it I say:)

Let's see! We re-did my husbands bathroom! It's a tiny "master bath" that is in our bedroom! Works just fine for him!
He did most of the work in there....I painted and designed it! He did everything else!
It did have crazy 1970's blue fixtures and wallpaper! YUCK!

Now it's manly modern! Not my style really....but he loves it!

Still need to get black and white photos in his frames too! I will show you more when it's 100% finished!

Anywho...so far so good! He is happy and I just need to add a few finishing touches:)

And......I have also been re-working my sunroom!
I am just over the black furniture phase and onto the lighter brighter cottagey phase!

Still waiting for my white slip cover to come and have a few more things to paint! But I love it so far:)

Looks like a little cottage in there now:)
I will show you the whole things when it's completely done:)

That's just a shower curtain on the couch right now! I was just tinkering around! But so far Ruby approves!

And I just moved an old dresser we had into the sunroom and scuffed it up a bit! I am all about using what you have!!!

So there you have it! That's what i've been up too lately! As soon as I get each room completely finished I show you more! But I just didn't want you to think I feel off the face of the earth!! heehee!!!!!!!

Talk to you soon:)

{happy day}

Well hello there!!
Happy Sunday to you!

Guess what....the SUN came out today!!
I was soooo excited! We haven't seen the sun since......well since the last time I posted about the sun:)

I love the sunshine...it just makes me so motivated! Even with a terrible cold right now...I still accomplished a lot today:)

Blue skies! I love them! And January in Indiana....really makes you appreciate them! It really is the little things that mean so much  in life!

We were all happy today! Even the birds were singing more than usual! Who cares there's a major winter storm on it's way....today I just enjoyed the moment!
Another good thing to remember....sometimes you just have to live in the moment:)

I was super busy with Simple Daisy today!! Thank you... Thank you:):) I can't even tell you just how happy it makes me to keep on moving forward in the direction of my dreams!!
And you know what...I have you to thank for that!!!!

Thank you Becky at Beachsnaps for doing a little post about Simple Daisy packaging!! So nice of you:)

And I finished up some odds and ends in my plan to spruce up our bedroom!
It's funny how when the seasons change I want to completely switch up my decor!
I just painted some things white, got a new duvet cover and changed out the bedside tables!
Still more to do...but it's a start!

Aren't those little tables cute!! Someone in our family built them......out of paneling and junk wood...they were pretty sad! My husband brought them home and couldn't quite figure out why I wanted them.....but look at them now! Nothing that a little paint and sanding can't take care of:):)

Can't wait to show you this little bathroom when it's finished! It's actually our master bath....I guess in the 70's {when our home was built} people just weren't into grand master baths!

It's so small you can barely fit 2 people in there at the same time!!!

It won't be the beachy style I like...it is afterall my husband's bathroom and he likes a little more modern style...and well.....he wasn't in love with the baby blue shower, toilet, and sink....me...I could have worked with it!! So it was time to make a change!

Hopefully we'll be done in a couple of weeks....still have to tile the shower!

but back to the bedroom!! It really should be your little happy space! Is your bedroom your happy space!?!?

Even Ruby approves!
Now if she would just stop leaving her black hair everywhere....I would be a lot happier:)

I hope you have a happy week! It sounds like we might be snowed in:(
I know I am still holding onto the thought that there really are daffodils underneath all that snow...just waiting to peek their pretty little heads out of the ground!!!
