{The Craft Room}

Hello and Happy Wednesday to you:)
Glad you all liked my table scape from the other day's post!
Now....
guess what?!?!?
I finished organizing and re-doing my craft room!!!! Yeah! I am very happy with how it turned out. I only hope I can keep it so organized. Remember how
it looked before?!?!?!
I already had almost everything I used.....It's amazing what a little can of spray paint can do:)
Oh and a change in the wall color....lighter, brighter and more airy feeling!!!!

I put the desk in the center of the room....so that opened up the space for a lot more storage options!

I still want my husband to get me a stainless steel top for my desk....but I am sure i'll have to wait awhile for that:)

I purchased a black open-back frame from Hobby Lobby and painted it aqua and fitted it with a painted peg board!!! Simple:)

I still need it hung on the wall....but you get the point!

I had old black frames laying around....painted them aqua and put some photos I took at the beach in them:)
Had the shelves....they were dark brown....painted them and scuffed them up!!!

and the striped magnet board...I made! Take artist canvas, paint stripes on it and slip and piece of galvanized steel in the back! Waaala .... you have yourself a beachy little magnetic board:)

See the glass candle holders on the top shelf?!?! I painted a stripe of chalkboard paint on those too!! They say....Live you life:) They make me happy!

I also painted those wooden shapes....like I did for the fireplace re-do.....and put them on my baskets!

I still have to hang up the frames I bought on this wall.....
Maybe this weekend:)
and you already know about the vintage frames I collect!!! I love them!!!!
I took my old file cabinet and painted with .......you got it......chalkboard paint:)
I love it!!! I am terrible at organizing...so maybe all the happy thoughts on the file cabinet will inspire me to be more organized:)
So there you have it!!!!
I still want to sew some curtains for the closet....I didn't show you that...but trust me....it's organized:)
Other than that.....I think it turned out GREAT!!! It truly makes me happy to be in there now!

What do you think!?!?!

{reality check}

Well hello!
How are you for a Monday?!?!
I have to tell you that just when I think I can get a little cocky with accomplishing things........
life happens:)
You know I had MAJOR plans to hole-up all weekend and work on my craft room. The husband was out of town and I decided to get BUSY.
Well......here is all I accomplished:)

Basically all I was able to do was....

paint the whole room a nice lighter and brighter creamy white but even that didn't go as planned. I ran out of paint after only 1 coat and had to run to Home Dep*t to pick up some more looking like something scary and doused with paint!!

Then Saturday I spent much of the day organizing my file cabinet....I HATE to do that. I also moved this vintage cabinet up from the basement and worked on making it look organized and happy:)
So.....I thought I could do it all and guess what I couldn't!

Oh and did I mention that in the midst of me tearing apart my whole room ..... the darn washer breaks....ugh.

But look what we got!!!! Movin' into the 21st century, yeah! And it gives me an excuse to cutsify another room!! woohoo:)
After I got tired of organizing things in the craft room.....I threw caution to the wind and went over to my friend's house for a gathering for her birthday!

I can't tell you the last time I had fun like that!
I had some of this.....

more of this.....
and by the end of the night.....we all ended up puttin' a hurtin' on some of this......
The beginning of the evening.....
lookin' nice and put together:)

The middle of the evening.....
taking photos in the mirror in the bathroom:)
by the end of the evening...
I am drinking my wine out of a tumbler!!!
I love that:)

I promise I will get back to reality this week and continue on with my craft room! But I am so glad I went a had a little fun!! Sorry the hubby missed out:(

Hope you had a super happy weekend! I'll be checking in on you when I have a moment. Right now I must get busy on all my laundry!!!!

{make the best of it}

Do you ever have one of those days where NOTHING goes as planned?!?!?
Well that was my day yesterday:)
I got up early to get all my errands ran only to realize most of the places didn't open until 11am or noon. Darn it...
Then I came home to start ORGANIZING and cleaning my home...
I did pretty good. I got the dining room finished...

simple and happy.
I put that stained glass piece up against the mirror....is that dorky or ok??!?!? I thought it looked pretty cute....but I wasn't sure:) I changed the chalkboard. Yes..it looks like I am really getting somewhere with this cleaning and organizing....
but here's the reality.... All I really did was move stuff from one room right into the other! This is supposed to by my happy little craft room but in reality it becomes a catch all for everything.

I have to admit I am NOT good at organizing! I am really good at lots of things but organizing is not one of those things:)

I am one of those people who gets so overwhelmed I just close the door and hope I don't have to deal with it anytime soon!Which is exactly what I did!!

I grabbed my husband and said "enough of this cleaning/organizing, let's head up to New Buffalo."

He agreed!! We went up to New Buffalo and just drove around looking at all the beautiful houses in the wintertime:)

Here are a few......They are all so lovely and they are right on Lake Michigan....how lucky:)

The lake in winter...Not exactly beautiful.....
but it's all we have:)
And don't you just love the beautiful blue sky?!!?
Just kidding...in the winter our skies are more the color of GRAY:)But all was well in the end...because we ended up having a little pizza and wine:) somehow...I ended up forgetting about my lack of organizational skills:)
And just look at that pizza...YUM!
How could you ever resist a little pizza!?!? Or rather A LOT of pizza..I ate almost the whole pizza! I was hungry:)

Have a GREAT week!

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.” Charles R. Swindoll
