{healthy recipe & give-away winner}

Hi there!!! Happy Friday to you.
My friend and I are supposed to go to Lake Michigan today....but of course it's cloudy here in Indiana....go figure.

I really wanted to say think you to everyone who participated in the simpledaisy give-away!!! I really love finding new blogs to read and have tried to go take a peek at all your blogs:)
I do enjoy doing these give-aways and plan to do more in the future. It's a nice way to say "thanks" to all you lovely peeps for reading my blog and leaving me nice comments that keep me going~

and now for the WINNER......

Glad I didn't have to count too far down:)

Anywho....I am so happy Maya won! She is a total ocean girl. I am constantly inspired by her blogs....
Completely Coastal
Daily Vitamin Sea
Trust me ... they really help to get me through the long midwestern winters:)
If you have a moment....stop in and say "hello"...you won't be disappointed~

Now for the Fresh Friday post!

If you're new to simpledaisy....every {or almost every} Friday I post a healthy recipe and might talk a little bit about fitness:)

Grilled Mahi with Chilled Vegetable Salad

I know if you're like me.....always in a hurry....it's nice to whip up something quick that still tastes good.

Enter jarred marinades.
It's not often that I use jarred anything....but I have to say...this one was really good:)
I just grilled some mahi and topped it with this tasted marinade. Delicious.

Another thing I really love are VEGETABLES:)
I eat tons of veggies and have found that if you have them all chopped up and ready to go it's much easier.
I just chopped up a ton of veggies...you can pick any you like....add a bottle of dressing {I used fat free italian} and chill!
Yummy and oh so healthy:)

Oh and you know how much I love my vino....well here's what I do with all my corks when I am done with them {that is when I am not making something with them}!

I just throw them into my pots! I added a few shells too. I do think it looks much better then just plain dirt:)

Oh and I have to tell you......if you're looking for a new workout to do...
Try Chalean Extreme.
I just finished my first week with it and can hardly move:) But in a good way!
I love working out but sometimes I get bored with the same old routine so I think it's good to swtich it up. Plus it's good for your muscles to mix it up. They get pretty used to what your doing pretty quickly!

I am still running and riding in addition to this workout... it's a pretty short { 30 min. to 40min} and it's a nice way to add muscle building in with cardio!!! I still haven't decided if I am going to train for the 100 mile bike ride or just do the 50 mile ride. Decisions...Decisions:) Training for something like that is SOOOO time consuming. There were times last year that I was on my bike for 4 hours at a time.
I usually prefer to keep my workouts to 1 hour or under:)
I'll keep you posted.

She is super motivating and if your looking for even more motivation....I found her blog...

There are tons of motivational videos on there. She is also a motivational speaker!!! Anywho...just wanted to share...who couldn't use a little motivation every once in awhile!?!?!?!

I'd be lying if I said...I was totally happy with my body!!! I still struggle with 10 - 15lbs {just keeping it real}! I lost it last summer and then winter hit...........now I am having a hard time getting it off again. Darn wine:)

Doesn't it stink that we all {or at least most of us} struggle with this?!!?

So I am always looking for motivation....and right now her video and motivational blog are fitting the bill for me:)

I am just glad I love to workout!!! I don't know where i'd be if I didn't work out as much as I do!!

I think at the least....it offsets my wine drinking!! haha!!

Well have a great weekend .......make a healthy dinner and at least go for a walk.....it'll make you feel pretty darn good:)

  3. Great post! That mango marinade looks delish! And fresh veggies are the best, it's one of the things I love most about summertime!

Great idea for the corks, they look great mixed in with your seashells in that planter!

And Maya will do that bracelet proud! She is a great person and beach lover extraordinaire!

I hope the sun shines so that you can head to the lake over the weekend!

  4. Heather, thank you so much!! I'm super excited to have won a simple daisy bracelet, yuppppieeee!!! I'll email you my info shortly.

I eat tons of veggies too..., regarding the marinade, I'll probably love it too, I have to read the label though..., I don't buy anything with more than 3 (absolute max 5) grams of sugar per serving (I save my sugar intake for Ben & Jerry ice creme, haha).

  11. Great post (as always)!
I'm with you. I love to work out because it makes me feel good, and on the other side - sometimes it gets the better of me.
Have you tried spin biking? I love it. I take it at the local YMCA. It might help you w/your outdoor biking.
    Have a happy weekend!

  16. Congrats to Maya-I will have to check out her blog-I used Denise's Daily Dozen to get me started on losing weight-I started about two weeks after Easter and am down 8 lbs-I was religious initially and then have been laissez faire since going to NYC.

BIking about 7 hours a week I am sure helps.

    Best of luck.

  17. I just stumbled upon your blog this morning. I had to go out so I bookmarked with a note-look at when I get home. I live for being around water - ocean preferably, but any body of water with a great view will do. Just loved reading thru some of our posts - you remind me of myself. It is refreshing and I have subscribed and a follower.
I love your idea of mixing the shells and wine corks. I can't wait to do it tomorrow as I have a large stash of each.
I am looking forward to your posts and hope you get to the beach lots this summer.
    My best - Diane
