{Autumn Wreath & Squash Soup}

Howdy...
How are you!?!? Guess what....it's FRIDAY!! Can I get a
woot woot:)
The weather recently took a turn for the worse...
but I don't care...
the leaves are delightful and I am bursting at the seems with creative inspirations!!!!!!!
Have you been able to tune into your
inner creative spirit
lately!?!?!?!?
Hope so......

Since the weather turned yucky ... I thought it might be a good time to listen to my taste buds and whip up some healthy and delicious soup:)
As you know...i've been beyond stressed lately! And I wanted to thank you for taking time out of your busy days to stop by and say hello...
I really appreciate it and your positive comments more than help me get through stressful times!

Do you know what else gets me through....
nourishing my creative spirit
I like to get creative
crafting...cooking...
writing in my journal about all my hopes and dreams....
making pretty jewelry.....
and drinking wine {heehee}

This week...I enjoyed creating this meal!
ps....the cayenne pepper makes this soup...in my opinion:)

Along with the soup...
I made this salad.

And before I forget to mention it...
I wanted to tell you .. the reason I don't ever give you exact measurements in my recipes is because
1. I don't use them and
2. if you really want to find wonderful recipes and cooking instructions ... there are a million places to get them.

My goal is to give you a springboard, an idea, a place to start.

I want you to explore your inner creative spirit...
get inspired here and then go out there and do what you want. mix it up....maybe you don't like the seasonings I use but you do like squash...
well then by all means....do what makes you happy:):):):)
Start with an idea and then move forward....
in your own direction!

Sure hope that's the feeling you get when you stop by and I hope I do inspire you just a little bit!

Alright...the salad!
I have to say..this was super delicious!
Even in the winter or autumn...it's still important to eat your greens:)

Guess what else I crafted this week....
well if you're a facebook sort of person....you would already know what i've been up to!!!

but here it is!

A super cute...super inexpensive autumn wreath!

After one particularly strssful day at work I came home....
poured a glass of vino...turned on Pandora's French Cafe station...and got busy making my inner creative spirit happy....which in turn...made me HAPPY!!!

I love the wreath and I especially love it against my blue front door!!!
Let me know if you decide to make one too:):)

and here's what else i've been up to....

Hope you have a fabulously relaxing and creative weekend:)
We're getting my nephew...having a few friends over and we're all carving pumpkins!!!
I love that:)

Oh and if you haven't had the opportunity to get to know Liz of Shorely Chic....you should! She is positively amazing!
She was recently interviewed by My Home Ideas and included me in her interview. I almost cried:) Words can't even describe how happy I feel that I inspire others....
That's what life is all about....be inspired and inspire others! She is my inspiration...she goes out there and works hard to follow her dreams. She ROCKS!! And I can attest that her beach scented candles are sublime....you can order them here:)
Thanks Liz:):):)

  2. I love the wreath and how you incorporated the wine corks! The necklace is beautiful, I love the stone and I like it with the chain that you have on it, it gives it more of a feminine touch.

Congrats on the shout out, that is so sweet! Have a relaxing weekend!

  4. Hello Dear Girl!

You are sounding much more like your old self! What a cute little Fall wreath...and pretty simple to put together once you scrounge up the items.

That salad looks delicious. It is similar to one we had in a Milwaukee restaurant Thursday night..it was wonderful; fresh and tasty.

I also love the necklace but I (for myself) would probably like a heavier chain. I think it depends on the wearer and I like chunky things on "chunky" chains-but that's just me. I think you make a piece the way YOU like it and that's the way it should be!

Hope your weekend is wonderful! Hugs- Diana

  5. First of all, I like the necklace just the way you made it! Super cute! And you've given me the courage to get my not so crafty self to the craft store to make a new fall wreath this weekend. I think I've figured out what I've been missing all along. It's not the crafting gene like I thought...it's WINE! Thanks for the inspiration! Have a great weekend!

  6. Whew!! I'm tired just reading about all the stuff you do ON TOP of your job!! and if you like cayenne on your soups...I'm sending you some Tony Chachere...a cajun spice that we put on everything that goes into our mouths! Most of my yankee friends can't get it up there, so I'll hook you up, girlfriend!! YOU will die with all the love in your mouth!!
Love the necklace! love love love it. I get so many compliments on mine and I tell 'em all about you and your wine drinkin', bicyclin',craftin, eatin' antics!!
    Have a great weekend...
Pray for me...for no rain NEXT weekend. Hosting an engagement party for my son and 75 of our peeps....OUTSIDE....at the lakehouse, with no backup plan.
That's just how I roll! Decorations and food are gonna be to die for. Will take plenty of pics!

  7. My mouth is watering...can't wait until we have a cool day to try that soup. In the meantime, I'll just have to make do with the salad...YUMMY!!!

Love your pretty wreath...especially the addition of the wine corks and twine. Very creative additions...

As for the necklace...beautiful! I LOVE the stone!!! For me, I would prefer a thicker chain to balance the stone.

  10. Hi Heather

We grew hubbard squash in our garden this summer and I have been freezing it. I still have a few on my counter and I am going to make this soup. It is chilly here and we are going for a nice long bike ride in the morning. Should be the perfect lunch. Thanks for the recipe. The salad looks pretty yummy ,too.

Hope you have a nice weekend. I am just relaxing in front of the fireplace after a tough week at work and am enjoying your post. I agree with Sandi above - I always leave Simple Daisy with a smile.
    My best- Diane

  11. Your soup and salad look completely fantastic! The wreath is also so stinkin' cute! Thanks for the great quote, I needed this today. :)

I am thinking of putting together a soup post including great fall soups from some of my favorite blogs. Would you mind if I include a link to this post with your soup photo? :)

  13. After 20 minutes of searching recipes for squash soup with your ingredients, I gave up. I would love to make it(and the salad too), but I work full time(which requires extensive travel), have 3 kids(2 under 6), and I'm on a budget(can't afford a screw up). Creative juices is not an option in my life, sorry.

  14. Love your wreath...so cute and the wine corks are such a good idea!

The soup and salad both sound (and look) so darn good! Do you serve the soup cold or hot?

    Hugs,

  16. Hey Julie!
    I totally understand...
if you want to give it the soup a whirl on a budget and in quicker way...

get the frozen butternut squash at the store....in the frozen veggie section...
still use almond milk unless you're a-ok with dairy then by all means use milk...
get ur seasonings....most people have cinammon...and allspice..if not...the Dollar Store usually has them...any cayenne but only if you like spicy things...
Then just add a tiny bit of garlic salt and veggie broth...
I only add enough of the milk and broth to make it soupy....

Put it all on the stove or even microwave and wallllaaaaa....
    super simple and reasonably priced!!

ps...that's the way I make it for lunch all the time....but since I love to cook...I enjoy it when I get to take extra time making something:):)

    Thanks for the comment!!!!!

  19. What do you think concerning adding some more illustrations? I don’t want to offend anyone, page is really great. But as I know visitors acquire info much more effective if they see some useful pics.
