How has your week been?
Mine....well let's see....I am starting to get just a wee bit tired of the snow and grey skies. Wait...did I just say a wee bit tired...I meant...more than tired of the snow and grey skies!
But you know what I did the other day...I took my camera with me on my morning ride into work.
I told myself to try really hard to find something beautiful to be thankful for during this not so happy time of the season.
Sure....pull over on the side of the rode to take a photo! why not!?!?!?
Breathe in the fresh air with your windows down in the freezing cold air:)
And just snap away!
Oh and snap away with your arm out the window as your driving! I love the strange looks I get! I am sure my fellow Indiana natives are just wondering what I culd possible find so beautiful that I must photograph it at 7:30 in the morning:)
And sometimes....moments of unhappiness have the most to teach us! And also give us the most power! We can look back and be really proud of how we handled ourselves in times of unhappiness:)
And trust me the LONG Indiana winters can bring on some severe unhappiness.....but so can many other things!
We don't have a choice in what situations we are faced with....but we sure do have a choice in how we handle the situations we are faced with:)
How do you choose to handle challenging situations....weather related, or otherwise!?!?!?
We can always learn from one another!
I always choose to try and figure out what I am supposed to be learning from unhappy situations!
I think this winter is trying to show me ..... that there is a certain beauty to everything!
And when I got home from this day....I came home to look up in the trees and saw tons of robins!!! Made me completely happy! Challenging situations also teach me to appreciate the little moments that put a smile on my face! I can tell you that in mid-July....my mind is not focused on how many Robins I see in a tree! Right now....I appreciate them:)
And to go along with the grey skies....I thought I would make something, well, grey:):)
A super simple scarf!! I love it!!!
I made one for myself and one for my friend!! She loves hers too:)
Making my friends happy.....also makes me happy!
You really can't mess this up! I love how edgy it looks but it's so soft!
I couldn't decide if I wanted to cut strips the whole length of the scarf....so I stopped midway to see how I liked it.....I think I am going to continue cutting the strips when I get a minute!!
It does take a little bit of time to cut the strips and to tie them all:)
What do you think!!?!? Do you like!?!?
Oh and nevermind me "trying" to smile.....it's always so hard when I feel so dorky taking photos of myself for you guys:)
And now for some healthy eats:)
I have been really working on liking shrimp! I have found that if I cut it up really small and sautee it really well....I LIKE it!!! I have wanted to like shrimp for so long...it's low fat...high protein...all natural...I don't think it gets much better than that.....but it's always a texture thing with me!!!
So if you have any good shrimp recipes....feel free to send them my way:)
And you what's so funny....I made this little table setting to try and make my picture look cute!! It made me so happy....I ate my dinner surrounded by starfish and daisies!! It was a pretty happy dinner! Even on a gray and dreary day!
So there you have it!! I have to say....this dish was super fantastic!! And I cooked the veggies to have just the right amount of crunch! Know what I mean!?!?!?
Loved it!
That scarf is awesome!!! even love the color!!! And I like the piece on long chain that you're wearing...
ReplyDeleteYou do a beautiful job with the fonts and layout and photos on your blog - that takes work!
Love your post today. And thank you for visiting my nest! We had a flock of Robin's also at my mom's in PA. It was amazing. We have long winters too in Vermont and I am sick of it and the loneliness. But like you I try to see the beauty, simple, happy parts. And actually it is quite beautiful. Have a lovely weekend, xoRobin❤

Love the scarf! and the ROBINS! I have not seen them this year...they must not have liked our cold FL winter and headed further south. Do I detect a fuzziness on the tree limbs?
ReplyDeleteYour post reminds me of the sentiments I read on FB yesterday...my good friend posted thoughts from another blogger, Magnolia Pearl. Quite introspective...
Have a fabulous weekend!
Jane (artfully graced)

This is such a positive and uplifting post :-) I love the pictures you took on your way to work - winter really can be beautiful if you take the time to find the beauty in it :-)
ReplyDeleteThat being said, seeing robins is a great sign! Spring can't be too far away :-)
Your scarf and shrimp dinner both look great :-)
your blog made me very happy! Gray skies in the Ozarks too, we have a long Spring of rainy cold days before warmer temps finally arrive. I love everything about your blog, esp. the pictures..very creative, the quotes are ones that will stick with me and help me on bumpy days and the recipe was to die for! Hubby and I are embarking on diets so this will definately be on the menu. So glad I found you! Come visit me in Arkansas on Granny Mountain...

ReplyDeleteI'm lovin' that scarf and I think it would make great Christmas presents for family and friends. (I like thinking ahead.)
ReplyDeleteOkay, you ask, "How do you choose to handle challenging situations?"
I definitely had one of those last week and I handled it by finally doing something I've been wanting to do AND it's something you helped inspire. Oh, and it's beachy, so stop by when you have the time to read my post this week. Thank you for always motivating me and helping to give me the confidence I needed!
Hugs
